Glen Szymoniak joined Klamath County School District as its superintendent in July 2018, bringing more than 35 years of experience in teaching, administration, and leadership.
Mr. Szymoniak started his career in education in Alaska, working for more than 25 years with the 11,000-student Kenai Peninsula Borough School District as a teacher, principal, and assistant superintendent. He also operated a halibut and salmon charter fishing business out of Seward and Homer, Alaska, and was a Kenai River guide during the summer months.
For seven years, he served as superintendent of the McCall-Donnelly School District in McCall, Idaho. Under his leadership, Idaho Leads ranked the district as the highest performing in the state. In addition, U.S. News and World Report ranked the McCall-Donnelly high school as one of the top 1,000 high schools in the nation.
After working in Idaho, Mr. Szymoniak returned to Alaska, where he served as superintendent of the North Slope Borough School District in Barrow (Utqiagvik), geographically the largest school district in the United States, with 11 schools spanning an area the size of Oregon.
Mr. Szymoniak's educational objective is to create efficient systems where student success and achievement are the focus and high expectations and accountability are essential.
