The KCSD Board of Directors is working with Human Capital Enterprises to conduct a rigorous, local,regional and nationwide search. The Board will seek, receive, and review input from KCSD staff, families, community members, and education partners; review all candidate application materials; interview candidates selected by the Board; and select the new superintendent.

The Board has set a timeline to recruit, interview, and hire the new superintendent to begin their term on July 1, 2026.

The Board will soon be soliciting public input on the characteristics, experience, and skills desired in the next superintendent through an online survey and in-person focus group sessions. We will update this post with links to the survey.

All information gathered through focus groups and the Superintendent Search Survey will be compiled, summarized, and incorporated into the “Next Superintendent Criteria.  The Board will approve a final copy of the criteria document during a Feb. 18, 2026, special board meeting, which will serve as an additional opportunity for public testimony.

By law, the Board is solely responsible for hiring the new superintendent. The Board will seek, receive, and consider all input from the KCSD community about the characteristics desired in our next superintendent; the board will review all applications, and interview those candidates determined by the Board to be highly aligned with the criteria established in the engagement period of the search; and the Board will select the new superintendent based on the established criteria.
