Student Referral
A student can be referred to TAG through any of the following ways:

Self -Referral
Student requests to be referred. Student, parent/guardian, or teacher then contacts the TAG Coordinator to begin the process.
NNAT-3 Screener
Student score is in at least the 94th percentile on the Naglieri Nonverbal Ability Test -3rd Edition (NNAT-3). TAG Coordinator will automatically begin referral process.
Parent/Guardian Referral
Parent may contact classroom teacher or TAG Coordinator to initiate a referral. If teacher is contacted then the teacher must contact the TAG Coordinator on the parent's behalf.
Teacher/Principal Referral
Teacher/Principal contacts the Parents/Guardians and, then the TAG Coordinator, to initiate the referral process.

Once a student's name has been sent for a TAG Referral, permission to test will be obtained and then data collection will begin.

Identification Decision and Notification
Parents/guardians and teachers are notified of the decision:

Identified as TAG
(Administration also notified)
- Intellectually Gifted
- Academicically Talented
Not Identified as TAG
Parents/Guardian, TAG Teacher, and Classroom Teacher will work together to design a Personalized Education Plan (PEP) for each student identified. PEP's and all referral paperwork will be kept in a TAG Cumulative File for each student. Enrichment opportunities will also be offered. |
Evidence does not support the student being identified at this time. Parents have a right to appeal this decision. Students may be referred for the TAG program again, one year after being found non-eligible. |
