Are you considered Homeless? 

If your family is in transition or experiencing homelessness, we have resources for you. The law defines homelessness in many different ways and some of the resources here will help you understand those definitions. The McKinney-Vento Act, a federal law, defines the educational rights of homeless children and youth and exists to eliminate barriers to education for children and youth experiencing homelessness.

Klamath County School District works in partnership with Integral Youth Services (IYS) and their advocates/liaisons to extend community-based resources to families, children, and youth. They also help school-aged homeless youth overcome any barriers they may have in accessing their education. They coordinate with us to arrange transportation to school and make sure students can stay in their school of origin. They help ensure that students are qualified for school meals and can get the school supplies they need to be successful in school.

IYS also has resources to programs that can help temporarily house youth, identify housing grants or other resources for families seeking to address their homelessness or economic struggle. 

We understand the economic difficulties of many families in Klamath County and our mission is to ensure children and youth do not encounter unnecessary barriers in attending school regularly and successfully completing their education.
