May 28, 2025 / Six Mazama Viking student athletes have signed to compete at the college level next year. The athletes gathered at the school today (May 28) for a special Signing Day celebration in front of family and friends.

Mazama vice principal and athletic director Ian O’Brien told the student athletes that it has been an honor to know and work with them.

“Each and every one of you has left a positive impression on me personally,” he said. “You compete in more than one sport while maintaining your academics and your commitment to your teams and your community. This takes grit, discipline and hard work. We celebrate you and the work and what you have accomplished throughout the years.”

Following are the student athletes and their plans:
• Christopher Barajas, cross country and track, Oregon Tech.
• London O’Brien, softball, Umpqua Community College.
• Mada Lee, track and field, Linfield University.
• Ryan Hayden, football, College of Idaho.
• Kristopher Baldwin, football, College of the Siskiyous.
• DeShawn Carter, baseball, Cornerstone University.
