Aug. 27, 2025 / Klamath County School District’s 14-member maintenance team spent the summer renovating and upgrading schools across the district. Their expertise—combined with the work of general contractors and subcontractors—delivered significant improvements to buildings, facilities, and grounds.
Major highlights include:
- Construction of an 11,580-square-foot gymnasium and new locker rooms at Chiloquin Junior/Senior High
- Installation of a new gymnasium floor at Lost River Jr/Sr High School
- Seismic design and construction at Chiloquin Elementary
- New flooring and windows at several schools
- Creation of secure entrance vestibules at Peterson and Chiloquin elementary schools
“Summer is a busy season for our crew, but also a rewarding one. The work we do now ensures that students and staff return to safe, updated, and welcoming spaces.,” said Dennis Zullo, KCSD maintenance and project supervisor. “We take pride in the wide range of skills on our team, and we’re grateful for the support of the contractors and subcontractors who partner with us to make these improvements possible.”

The KCSD maintenance team includes plumbers, electricians, HVAC technicians, carpenters, concrete finishers, a locksmith, and a groundskeeper.
School-by-School Project Summary
- Bonanza Schools: Installed underground sprinkler system; replaced glazing in elementary windows; landscaped playground and gymnasium area; poured new sidewalks; renovated space into an employee restroom at the high school.
- Brixner Junior High: Installed new reader board; replaced boiler room pipes; added insulated exterior panels in place of plexiglass.
- Chiloquin Elementary: Continued seismic upgrades to the main building; remodeled the kitchen; created an entrance vestibule.
- Chiloquin Junior/Senior High: Continued gymnasium construction; added new locker rooms to the main building.
- Ferguson Elementary: Repainted hallways; installed classroom flooring; added concrete pad and sidewalks for new two-classroom modular.
- Gearhart School: Installed new hallway and classroom flooring.
- Gilchrist School: Installed new exterior windows and siding; repainted campus buildings; excavated for football field and bus parking drainage; removed trees to create wildfire defensible space; remodeled kitchen; installed dust collection system in high school shop.
- Henley Middle: Renovated locker rooms.
- Henley High: Stripped, sanded, refinished and restriped gymnasium floor; built employee restroom; completed HVAC system; installed new cafeteria and kitchen storefront windows.
- Henley Complex: Completed irrigation improvements across all three campuses.
- Falcon Heights: Repaired water damage in modular classroom.
- Keno Elementary: Removed and trimmed trees to improve wildfire safety.
- Lost River Junior/Senior High: Installed new gymnasium floor; installed new roof on gymnasium due to storm damage.
- Malin Elementary: Installed new classroom flooring.
- Mazama High: Stripped, sanded, refinished and restriped gymnasium floor; built outdoor covered area for construction and manufacturing projects; added employee restroom; installed new reader board; repainted exterior soffits.
