School hosts second annual Signing Day
May 23, 2025 / Chiloquin Junior/Senior High School soon-to-be graduates were encouraged to dream, to keep showing up, and to try new things as they committed to their plans for the future May 23 during the school’s second-annual Signing Day.
Twenty-two members of the Class of 2025 shared their immediate plans in front of classmates, family, and friends during the celebratory event. Keynote speakers were Klamath County Circuit Court Judge Alycia Kersey, and head basketball coaches and Chiloquin alums Tiffany Rich Jackson and James Jayne.
“Go do it. Go meet different people,” Jayne told the soon-to-graduates. “Just don’t sit in the corner in the shade. Go out into the sun and try different things.”
Two student athletes were recognized for opportunities to play at the collegiate level. Marques Hescock did a ceremonial signing with family, committing to compete for Southwestern Oregon Community College in track and field. Hescock is a thrower.
Elizabeth Bonono-Raines was recruited to participate in track and field by Pacific University in Forest Grove, but decided not to do collegiate athletics and attend University of Oregon instead. Students’ plans represent attending 10 different two-year and four-year universities as well as joining the Navy, Job Corps and workplace.
