The Klamath County School District maintenance team worked with local contractors today to finish pouring concrete to complete the foundation for a new six-classroom addition at Shasta Elementary School.
The $1.3 million project is being paid for with federal ESSER funds. The new building will allow for more space at one of the district’s largest elementary schools and include up-to-date ventilation and HVAC systems.
The 8,880-square-foot building is being constructed next to the school’s Big Gym. After the concrete sets for a week, the crew will start framing the building. Construction is expected to be complete in the fall of 2022.
This is the fourth classroom addition since 2018, when Peterson Elementary opened its six-classroom space. Henley Middle School’s four-classroom addition was completed in fall 2019 and Stearns Elementary School’s eight-classroom addition opened in fall 2021.
