Gilchrist School closure
Due to prolonged illnesses and difficulty staffing the schools, Gilchrist Elementary and Gilchrist Junior/Senior High will close early today, Feb. 11, 2026, and remain closed Thursday, Feb. 12, 2026, and Friday, Feb. 13, 2026. All after school and extracurricular activities are canceled. Plans are to reopen on Tuesday, Feb. 17, following the Presidents Day holiday. School will close today at 12:20 p.m. Students who ride buses will arrive at their stops three hours earlier than their usual time. The extended closure is to allow students and staff who are ill to recover and to provide custodial teams the opportunity to deep clean and disinfect school buildings. Please continue healthy practices such as frequent handwashing and staying home when sick to help prevent further spread. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we work to keep our schools safe and healthy.
