ELIGIBILITY Applicants must be accepted for post-secondary study an accredited technical trade school, community college, college, or university. Applicant should either live in, be a graduate of a Klamath County or City of Klamath Falls High School, or currently enrolled in an accredited technical trade school, community college, college, or university college. The Marine Corps League Crater Lake Detachment #373 Scholarships are awarded based on a comprehensive process. Areas that are reviewed by the scholarship committee include but are not limited to the following: • Marine Corps League affiliation • United States Military service affiliation • Academic Accomplishments • Personal Essay • Extra-Curricular Activities, Recognitions, Goals and Career Plans • Personal Essay 2 Scholarships awarded will be applied to cover Tuition and fees only. Winners must provide their student ID, the correct mailing address of their institution and the department where their scholarship check is to be sent CRITERIA • Applicants must have permanent residence status in Klamath County, Oregon. • Applicants must be completing or have completed high school successfully with a minimum unweighted GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale. • Applicants must be accepted as a full-time student at an accredited technical trade school, community college, college, or university college for the upcoming academic semester. • Applicants must demonstrate a need for financial assistance. • Applicants must complete and submit a Scholarship Application postmarked no later than April 30, 2025. This program, also known as the Hap Arnold Grant, is the centerpiece of the AFAS education support. The application process for the Arnold Grant serves as a platform for other key education support opportunities at the Society, including the Merit Scholarship program, and Interest-free Supplemental loan program.
The Hap Arnold grant is uniquely tailored to recognize the proper weighing of family income and education costs.
Award amounts vary each year based on the number of applicants, total approved grant budget, applicant’s Student Aid Index (SAI) from the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and cost of attendance at a college or university approved by the Department of Education. The specific amount awarded correlates to a student’s particular level of financial need.

Eligibility Criteria
Children of U.S. Air Force or U.S. Space Force members in the following categories:
- Active Duty, Title 10 Reserve and Guard on extended active duty, and Title 32 Guard performing full-time active duty through December 1 of the academic year.
- Retired due to length of active duty service or disability.
- Retired AGR/Reserve with 20+ satisfactory service years creditable for retired pay and placed on the Air Force or Space Force Reserve Retired List (no other retired classifications are considered eligible).
- Deceased member who died while on active duty or in retired status.
Children must not reach age 24 during the award year.
Spouses of U.S. Air Force or U.S. Space Force members in the following categories:
- Active Duty, Title 10 Reserve and Guard on extended active duty, and Title 32 Guard performing full-time active duty through December 1 of the academic year.
- Surviving spouses of Air Force and Space Force members who died while on active duty or in retired status.
Spouses must be legally married to the member (not separated or pending divorce) at the time of application and disbursement of award.
All applicants must:
- Be a high school graduate enrolled or accepted as a full-time undergraduate student in the upcoming academic year.
- Be enrolled or accepted in an accredited college, university or vocational/trade school approved by the U.S. Department of Education for participation in federal aid programs.
- Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of a 2.0 on a 4.0 scale and remain in good standing with the school.
- Not be a graduate or professional student.
- Not be a veteran or a member of the National Guard, Reserves or other military branch.
- Be considered a dependent of the Airman/Guardian for federal student aid purposes.

APPLICATION PROCESS:
1. Pick up applications at Oregon Department of Forestry Headquarters on 3200 Delap Road or online at https://www.facebook.com/klamathfirepreventioncooperative/
2. Completed application and essay must be received by May 13th, 2025, no later than 4:30 p.m. Applications may be dropped off at Oregon Department of Forestry Headquarters on 3200 Delap Road.
3. Notification of scholarship award by May 19th, 2025.
4. Funds will be distributed directly to the prospective student by KFPC or to the educational institution of the applicant’s choice upon proof of enrollment.
5. Funds must be used within one year of award notification.

This scholarship was created in the memory of Mr. Archie Linman who dedicated his life to the Klamath Basin and was a huge promoter of higher education. Archie served on several committees such as the Klamath Fair Board, Henley High School FFA Advisory Committee along with helping create the Best of the Basin Event. He devoted much of his life encouraging young people to follow their dreams. |

SCHOLARSHIP DETAILS: The Oregon Federation of Women’s Clubs is pleased to announce the 2025 Violet Lang Vocal Music Scholarship for High School Seniors. Any graduating Oregon High School Senior is eligible to enter the contest. Each applicant must be an Oregon resident. One $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to the winning student to be used for college tuition to further their education (in any subject) at an accredited school of higher education.
CONTEST LOCATION AND DATE: Applicants will video their performance and upload to a google drive by April 2 nd. Winners of the scholarship will be announced during a virtual awards ceremony on April 12.
CONTEST INFORMATION: Each performance will be no more than 10 minutes in length and will include a classical song and song of your choice. Memorization is not required. |
