Gilchrist Schools in secure status
As of 11:50 a.m., today, April 3, 2026, Gilchrist Elementary School and Gilchrist Junior/Senior High School have been placed in secure status after a student was threatened off campus by another student, who then fled the area. No one was injured. A secure status means all students and staff remain safely inside the buildings, and all exterior doors are locked as a precaution. Law enforcement is actively investigating. The school buildings will remain in secure status until law enforcement determines it is safe to lift it.
