COVID-19 UPDATES: School and cohort closures
En español: ACTUALIZACIÓN: ATLETISMO DE KCSD
UPDATE ON HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETICS
We have good news. This week kicked off six weeks of competition for high school cross country, soccer, volleyball, and football athletes. We are excited for our athletes and their families, especially our seniors who will get a chance to compete during their last year of high school. However, the ability for our athletes to compete comes with restrictions and challenges to keep our community safe.
Spectator attendance restricted
Due to Oregon Health Authority guidelines, there will be no spectators allowed at Klamath County School District sporting events at this time. This also applies to away games. Only participants, coaches, and officials will be allowed on campuses for events. Our schools are working on livestreaming options to broadcast sporting events, and we will publicize details as those plans are finalized. For more: Update: KCSD Athletics
INCLEMENT WEATHER GUIDANCE FOR PARENTS
As we enter into several days of wintry weather, this is a good time to make sure your information is up-to-date with your school so you know if classes are delayed or cancelled. Following is KCSD's plan to let you know if school is delayed or canceled because of inclement weather events:
- Our first line of communication will be through the One Call Now system. Please make sure that the school(s) your student(s) attend have your current contact information in the system.
- If we find it necessary to close school in the morning, announcements will be made over radio and television stations listed below after 6 a.m.. We advise you to listen to your local stations in the mornings and/or visit our district website, and Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter pages, where messages will be posted.
- During an inclement weather event, a parent may determine they cannot safely transport their child to school because of environmental factors in their area. If your child will not be attending, please call the school and let them know.
- If it is necessary to dismiss school early due to bad weather or other emergencies, announcements will be made on the same radio and television stations periodically throughout the day and posted on our district website, and Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter pages as soon as a decision is made.
Radio stations: AM 960 KLAD 1150 KAGO 1450 KFLS FM 92.5 KLAD 96.5 KFLS (CD Country) 99.5 KAGO 104.7 KFEG 105.5 KKKJ (3KJ) 106.9 KKRB. Television stations: KOBI/KOTI KDRV/KDKF KTVL
