Jr High Science
Grade: 7th and 8th Credit: 1.0 Prerequisite: None
The objective of this course is to meet the state standards as outlined in the Standards by Design for the state of Oregon. Content covered will include Physical, Life and Earth Sciences. Topics to be covered include matter and energy, atoms, chemical compounds, periodic table, living and nonliving systems, system interactions, and system changes. Scientific Inquiry and Engineering Design will be used to
further understanding of the above concepts.
Integrated Science
Grade: 9th Credit: 1.0 Prerequisite: None
This course is a basic science course covering Earth science, physics and chemistry. The content for the course is based on the Oregon State Science Standards. Content includes oceans, the atmosphere, the planets and solar system, motion and force, atoms and chemical formulas. Coursework will include notes, reading, diagrams, labs, movies and review games.
Biology
Grade: 10th Credit: 1.0 Prerequisite: none
This course is designed as an entry-level course for sophomores and a remedial course for upper classmen. Units follow the Oregon State Science Standards, and include cellular biology, genetics, DNA structure and function, ecology and interactions and change within systems. Coursework will include lectures, reading, diagrams, local filed trips, labs and review games.
Anatomy and Physiology:
Grade: 11th- 12th 1.0 Prerequisites: Biology
This is an upper level high school class that teaches students about the structures and functions of all of the major systems in the human body. We will cover several systems, some of which include the skeletal, muscle, cardiovascular, immune and endocrine systems. Students will learn the structures involved in each system and how they work. Course work will include lecture, notes, drawings, diagrams and labs.
